Who Are We?

Welcome to the Ultrasound in Pregnancy Unit which is located on the second floor of Mount Carmel Hospital. This is a dedicated Obstetric Ultrasound Unit open to all women who are pregnant - not just patients attending Mount Carmel Hospital.

Our Unit is staffed by both Midwife and Radiographer Sonographers, all of whom have UCD Post Graduate Higher Diplomas in Obstetric Ultrasound and are experienced at performing pregnancy ultrasounds.

Staff

For the vast majority of patients a visit to our unit will be a happy and joyous occasion but it is reassuring to know that if any problems are encountered during the ultrasound that there is a full back-up medical service available here in Mount Carmel which includes:

  • An initial consultation with an Obstetrician if deemed necessary and at no extra cost.
  • Any necessary blood tests (Charged separately by the Pathology Unit).
  • Follow-on medical care which can be arranged here at Mount Carmel at your request Liaison by the Sonographer of the Unit with your GP / Consultant in the management of your care – is you so wish.
